Local Tourist Information
Three Legged Cross is located between the market towns of Ringwood in the New Forest, and Wimborne Minster on the lovely Dorset Stour.
The guest house location provides our guests with an ideal opportunity to explore the wonderful countryside that can be found throughout the area. For example :
- Moors Valley Country Park is just 2 miles from the guest house, providing everything you and your family will need for an adventurous or relaxing day out. Narrow gauge railway, several adventure playgrounds, adventure walk, tree top trail, golf facilities and more.
- Ringwood, considered by many to be the southern gateway to the New Forest, is only 5 miles away. From here you can range over the entire Forest at your leisure. We recommend that you at least visit the charming village of Burley and allow a good day to walk and relax around Boldrewood and the Ornamental Drive. Ringwood market day is Wednesday.
- Wimborne Minster can be found just 6 miles in the opposite direction. An old Dorset market town with narrow streets, a marvellous minster, museums and shops. There is also a regular outdoor market, plus an indoor collectibles and antiques market.
- The village of Cranborne is approximately 8 miles distant and is situated at the south end of the wonderful Cranborne Chase, Royal hunting ground of olden days, providing miles of unspoiled countryside.
- Fancy a day on the beach? The seaside holiday town of Bournemouth is just 11 miles south of the guest house, with miles of sandy beaches, two piers, the fabulous Winter Gardens, cinemas, theatres and shops galore.
- Historic Poole Town, Quay and Harbour (second largest natural harbour in the world) is just 14 miles drive. The town and quay are full of old world charm, with the quay being one of the most popular evening hot spots during the summer months. The harbour is a sailing, boating and wind surfing lovers paradise as well providing the nature lover with a wealth of wildlife and nature reserves.
- Just a little further down the road from Poole takes you to Wareham, gateway to the Purbecks. The Purbecks probably provide some of the most spectacular and scenic coast paths on the South coast of England. With many quaint villages and hamlets, plus numerous footpaths, bridle ways and downland walkways, this is must for all countryside and nature lovers.
Golf facilities are plentiful, with both the Ferndown and Moors Valley golf courses positioned just 4 miles from the guest house.
Fishing, both lake and river, is also plentiful in this area, with numerous day ticket lakes and river beats within a short drive. Tackle shops available in nearby Ringwood.
Swimming, Fitness and Sport facilities are located in Ringwood and nearby Ferndown (5 miles).
Should you need supplies there are two village stores and a post office in Three Legged Cross within walking distance, with larger supermarkets at Verwood (3 miles), Ringwood (5 miles) or Ferndown (5-6 miles).
